immersive planetarium
2022
w/ Professor Salman Khalili-Araghi
spring semester @University of Toronto
/architecture

This project is located in the site of a historical building in the landscape of Toronto, the McLauglin Planetarium. This building served as a planetarium, part of the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto but was then closed and sold to the University of Toronto years later. For this project, I am hoping to renovate the empty planetarium and convert it into an immersive space that allows students and tourists to experience and learn about the future through technology. This will be addressed specifically in the dome of the building, which offers a semi-sphere. Previously used as a canvas for projecting accurate brightnesses of stars and constellations, this space will be converted to an immersive theatre and centre of innovation.
