shifted and folded
2023 w/ Andrew Zago
spring semester @SCI-Arc

This studio expanded on the fundamental problems of architectural geometry and representation with an added emphasis on disciplinary concepts of interiority, typology, program, circulation, and landscape. In addition to these foundational topics specific to architecture, exercises in this course introduced a broad set of cultural and ecological concerns including community, equity, and sustainability. The studio project is a medium-sized, multi-programmed municipal building in Van Nuys, a suburb of Los Angeles, CA. What happens when the program shifts, folds onto itself, and stacks in a configuration that allows one continuous accesible ramp throughout the whole building? The building is meant to be provocative, and speculate on what future government facilities can look like and how they may function.
