my name is JONATHAN GUIRGUIS, but you can call me jony.

i got into architecture because i’ve always loved design, and i needed a professional degree to convince my parents not to go into engineering or medicine.

i hope to get levelled, skills-wise, with the industry standard; especially since we are increasingly becoming more dependent on BIM tools.

my favourite architects/designers are Frank Gehry, Eric Owen Moss, Virgil Abloh and Will Alsop. my favourite artists are Dan Graham, Nam June Paik, Michael Snow, and Man Ray.

i think an artist/entrepreneur. i dont want to be bounded by a specific field. i understand different project scales have different timelines, but i feel like nowadays technology makes it easier to design in various scales and ranges. i want to make money of course as well. so i also wouldnt mind being creative director, that way i can dabble in alot of things without getting too deep into the detail. my problem is that i want to design everything, because i am very curious as to how i can reimagine something.

my hobbies outside of architecture include: fashion design, i own a brand called SILENT SIMON, based in Toronto. street photography. hiking. soccer. art. my girlfriend.

i have two shih-tzus back home. Charlie and Toby.

i’ve always wondered why we are so complacent with projects being slow? why is there so much beauracracy? how can architects gain large capital or have more control in the project, for the right reasons, like building projects that actually make communities better to live in? why do schools barely teach us about building and ownership? why do most architects not operate in different fields? is it impossible to do both?

i think the color of money is transparent. the way we treat it says alot about ourselves.
